Hello. I am Goya Verity. I am Chair of iYouth, the Young Professionals Group for St John Eye Hospital, and am a MSt candidate at the University of Oxford in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, focussing on Roman social history in Judea.
We are an international youth and young professionals group, including medics, nurses, and all non-medical professionals alike, working to promote and support the ethos of the St John Eye Hospital Group.
Whilst we are supporting a medical organization, our purpose is not wholly medical, and young professionals in any career can become involved.
We look forward to building up this network of youth and young professional supporters of St John Eye Hospital, so that our actions of today will create a sustainable change for tomorrow.
I first became involved in the Hospital at the age of 15, where I was gardening and making marmalade, before I could properly appreciate the life-changing strength of this organization, and found my passion working with the Outreach team.
Growing up in the St John family, creating iYouth was my vision and dream in 2016, and which has now become reality in 2020. We acknowledge that the set-up of this organization is not for short-term gain, but a long-term solution. In the words of Mandela: We the children of today shall be the leaders of tomorrow.
After our very successful launch event in Dublin this year, we are excited to be working with our Patron, Professor James O’Higgins Norman, and the Executive, as we develop from our formative days.
We hope that you can join us in this endeavour.
For the Faith, and the Service of Mankind.
Pro Fide, Pro Utilitate Hominum
