Millennial Ethos of Service
In 1023 AD traders from the Italian Amalfi coast took charge of a hospice in Jerusalem. Through their work and service they laid the foundations for the Johannine Orders which grew and now flourish, providing hope and care to countless millions of people across the world.
This year we reflect on our common ethos which stretches back over a thousand years, and which lies at the very heart of the Orders of St John.

Day 1 (Thursday November 30th, 2023)
We meet for a welcome and orientation meeting at 1000 am in St George’s Guesthouse and Cathedral, Jerusalem. The Summit group convenes for a morning of discussion groups and lectures on the history, culture, and ethos of St John.
In the afternoon there will be a Service of Rededication led by the Revd. Canon Nicholas T Porter, joined by the Archbishop of Jerusalem. This will be followed by a light dinner in the Guesthouse grounds.

Day 2 (Friday December 1st) and Day 3 (Saturday December 2nd)
The Old City ~ The Eye Hospital of St John
Due to anticipated delegate numbers (approximately 100 – 110), the Summit delegates will be divided into two groups.
On the first day, the first group will spend a day in the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital, with a welcome address followed by modular visits in divided groups across the Hospital (themes including Outreach activities, research, hospital strategy, work in Gaza, and our local cuisine). The second group will be treated to an exclusive visit to the Old City of Jerusalem with experienced guides.
On the second day, the activities of the two groups are reversed, such that all Summit delegates see the Old City and visit the Eye Hospital.
On each day, lunch is provided (either in the Muristan Peace Garden in the Old City, or in the Eye Hospital)

Day 3 (Saturday December 2nd)
A special evening reception will be held in the Eye Hospital, followed by a Gala Diner in the Ambassador Hotel

A book on the history of the Hospital in Jerusalem, and other commemorative millennial items, will be available to all Delegates
