Sir Andrew Cash
Hello. My name is Andrew Cash and I am the Chair of the St John Eye Hospital Group. We are the oldest and only charitable provider of expert eye care in the Middle East, treating patients in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem, regardless of ethnicity, religion or their ability to pay.
Our work in Jerusalem began in 1882, and we now run hospitals and clinics in the Gaza Strip, Anabta in the north, Hebron in the south, and across the West Bank with our mobile Outreach service.
In 2019 the Eye Hospital Group treated 137,000 patients, of which 38,000 were children, and we performed 5700 major sight-saving operations. We provide round-the-clock emergency services, a wide range of subspecialty clinics, and train the next generation of Palestinian nurses and doctors. We are committed to providing the highest quality eye care possible, and are proud to have been accredited for the third year in a row by the Joint Commission International.
Coupled to our service commitment in this difficult region we are now building our teaching, training and research profile. We are fortunate to have a wide range of international healthcare experts across the Priories of St John, and together with their support we are now consolidating the Board’s strategy to develop our regional and international teaching and training profile.
Thank you for visiting this site. We hope you find the online resources provided by the St John Ophthalmic Association informative, and that you have an opportunity to learn more of our work in the Middle East.
Thank you.
