My name is Priscilla Mathewson, and I am the events director for the St John Ophthalmic Association.
My involvement in the neuro-orbital meeting started from the very beginning, when David Verity and I realised there was a need for this sort of high-end meeting. Initially we had a date in mind, but nothing else. Over the course of the year we were fortunate in being able to invite some exceptionally high-end speakers to come and present on the day. In addition to this we needed a backdrop that was fitting and we were very lucky in that the Cavalry and Guards Club was able to support us.
The next thing was to find some delegates, and we were overwhelmed by how many people were willing to come in their free time on a Saturday to attend the meeting.
Overall, the feedback from the meeting has been fantastic and I really hope that this is something that we can put on, year after year, and in various formats, both to increase the awareness of St John, and also to generate funds for a fantastic course.
